It’s time to Whistle! Today starts a nation wide 40 day fast and prayer time on the topic of abortion. Officially, the purpose is: complete and permanent release, healing and change in, and to, our nation, regarding this issue of abortion. During these 40 days we bear the grief and pain of those in our nation who have been caught up in the deception of abortion. As we turn to God in repentance and change our ways, may God have mercy upon us and this land.
So, what’s the whistle for? It’s to draw attention to this issue. A whistle is a loud and arresting sound. It gets people’s attention with urgency. It also reveals injustice. I think of films where the police have come across a crime happening and the first thing they do is blow the whistle! The response of the thief is to run away!
When we blow the whistle in the spirit, the evil has to flee! The Bible says when we finally see our adversary, we will wonder what the fuss was about. The devil has no power except what is allowed by God or by us. Our fears cause us to imagine satan bigger and more powerful than what he is. But satan is just defeated. He acts like he is not, but Jesus defeated him on the cross and in the resurrection. Death, where is thy sting?
