Day 39 of 40 day fast

“In the teaching of Jesus, righteousness means a right relationship with God, as well as the quality of life that involved a right relationship both with God and one’s fellow human beings

Paul taught that the gospel is the power of God for salvation b/c ‘righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last’ (Rom 1:17)

When we proclaim the gospel, a righteousness goes forth - a righteousness God delights to see and accept. This righteousness is the provision of a right relationship with Himself through the saving work of Jesus, substitute and representative Man. To receive this gift of righteousness is to be justified by faith. Those who receive the gift are then to live as righteous people, devoted to the service of what God declares to be right.

The Lord God always acts in righteousness, He always has a right relationship with people and His action is to maintain that relationship. As regards Israel, God’s righteousness involved treating the people according to the terms of the covenant that He had graciously made with them. This involved treating the people according to the terms of the covenant that He had graciously made with them. This involved acting both in judgment (chastisement) and in deliverance (salvation). He called Israel to be righteous as His chosen people and to live in right relationship with others.” (NIV Bible Dictionary)

This sounds like the Lord, the Church and our covenant the Bible.

“For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous...”

“Righteous: One of several terms in the OT for God’s people; it presents them as those who honour God and order their lives in all things according to His will. In every human relationship they faithfully fulfil the obligations that the relationship entails, remembering that power and authority (of whatever sort; domestic, social, political, economic, religious, intellectual) are to be used to bless, not to exploit.” (Ps 1:6+NIV note)

Hab 2:4; Ps 85:10-13; Isaiah 32:16-18

Let’s pray together. Today I ‘seek the Lord (inquire for Him, inquire of Him, and require Him as the foremost necessity of my life), as one of the humble of the land who have acted in compliance with His revealed will (especially concerning these last 40 days).

I seek righteousness and humility, (I inquire for them, require them as vital). Lord, fill those who follow You with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ, (the Anointed One), to the honour and praise of God (that His glory may be both manifested and recognised).“ Zeph 2:3, Phil 1:11 Amp)

Lord put down a strong root of humility and righteousness in NZ.
